Wedding Invitation Envelopes

This style of calligraphy is called Copperplate. Although I have done other types of calligraphy, this is by far my favorite and the one I do most frequently.  I am trying to branch our a bit, but Copperplate is a very formal calligraphy. I will show you some variations that allow you choose something a little more modern if you want.

This last envelope that is gray had to be hand-lined which makes it a little more costly.  I had a precious bride whose envelopes were dark gray, and she wanted hers to not be so formal but a "little funky" so here is an example of what I we did for hers.
Every envelope was a little different.  The sizes of the names addresses and city and state were not uniform and I wrote them at all different angles.  This was very intimidating at first, but ended up being one of the weddings I have enjoyed doing the most!. I have also done several larger pieces of work for a number of clients. Below are some samples of those.

January 18, 2014

First post! I am new to the blogging scene but hope it will be a great place to post about calligraphy.  I took a calligraphy course about 5 or 6 years ago and have been doing calligraphy ever since. It took me a couple of years of practice , practice, practice, but now its a truly a passion of mine and I enjoy it more and more. I am looking forward to being able to post examples of my work. Give me a little time to learn some things about this Blog, hopefully I will have it up and running soon.  Look forward to it!
